Geocaching

Welcome To Geocaching

While Lake Cumberland has plenty of natural attractions like boating, fishing, cabins, camping sites, hiking, as well as houseboats and other tourist attractions, it’s also a fun place to participate in geocaching.  There are over 200 geocaches in Russell County, Kentucky!

Jamestown and Russell Springs are a mecca for geocaching, offering more than 10 miles of trails!  Follow our geocaching “Power Trail” straight down Highway 127, into our Marinas, the Lake Cumberland State Resort Park, and Wolf Creek National Fish Hatchery!  Hundreds of caches can be discovered as you enjoy your Lake Cumberland outdoor adventure.

Geocaching is a high-tech scavenger hunt game played by adventure seekers equipped with GPS or Smart Phone devices.  The basic idea is to locate hidden treasures — geocaches — as you explore the outdoors and then share your experience online.  Participants navigate to a specific set of GPS coordinates and then attempt to find the geocaches hidden at that location. The reward is usually small token or trinket, or often just a log-in book to declare that you have located a particular cache.

Geocaching is FREE & the ultimate outdoor adventure.  Lake Cumberland and Russell County is home to hundreds of “hidden treasures” with more being added each year.

Go to https://www.geocaching.com and type in 42629 for Jamestown or 42642 for Russell Springs to get started.
