Fall to some is considered the most magical season of the year and thousands of visitors flock to rent cabins and cottages on Lake Cumberland to experience the glory of the Kentucky fall foliage in its grandeur. In southern Kentucky, the leaves unfurl their colors around the end of October through the beginning of November. Of course the timing of Kentucky fall foliage depends on the weather. The conditions that make for spectacular autumn color displays are a moist growing season followed by a dry autumn having warm, sunny days and cool.

Baugh Branch Hiking Trail: This is a 1.6 mile hiking trail at the Lake Cumberland State Resort Park that allows you to up close and personal with Kentucky’s fall foliage! This wonderful trail takes you to the Lake Cumberland Overlook for an even more spectacular view. While you’re out hiking, don’t miss the 4 mile Lake Bluff Hiking Trail too where you’ll encounter sweeping lake views made even more splendid when surrounded by the gold, red and rusty beauty of Kentucky’s fall foliage.
